Required Laboratory Training

These required laboratory training modules are designed to give new lab members an understanding of UC Riverside operating procedures and general laboratory safety. Additional lab-specific training, not listed below, may be required. The training modules may be accessed through the UC Learning Center and require a UCR NetID to login.

Injury and Medical Treatment Protocol

The UCR Injury and Medical Treatment Protocol is an 11-page PDF with information on policies and procedures for dealing with work-related injuries.

Fatalities or injuries requiring hospitalization for more than 24 hours must be reported within eight hours to Cal/OSHA and EH&S following the directions on the “Report severe injuries and fatalities” page.

Report all work-related injuries within 48 hours using the Incident Report Form, or contact Workers’ Compensation at (951) 827-2636 or workerscomp@ucr.edu.


UCR Standard Operating Procedure Templates

The Standard Operating Procedure Templates, available on the UCR Environmental Health & Safety website, are customizable for your individual lab.


Research Building Biosafety Level 2 Standard Operating Procedure (BSL-2 SOP)

The Biosafety Level 2 Standard Operating Procedure (BSL-2 SOP) manual provides appropriate procedures to ensure maximal dissemination of information regarding the BSL-2 hazards that can be present at any given moment and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) necessary to protect personnel.

The information in this document applies to all research staff, hosted visitors and guests, volunteers, building staff, and service staff who enter the laboratory.
